A new chapter for an old inn
A thatched 16th-century freehouse on the A35, brought back to life in March 2026 by the Armstrong family.
The Old Inn has stood at the heart of Kilmington since the 1600s. After a quiet stretch when the doors were closed, Dave, Julie and the rest of the Armstrong family took over with a simple plan — put some love back into a beautiful building, fill it with good food and good drinks, and welcome back old customers and new.
Chef Dave's in the kitchen, the family's behind the bar, and a sunny beer garden's waiting out the back. Dogs welcome. Roasts on Sundays. Homemade pies, lamb shank, a proper Sunday roast — and whatever else is good on the specials board that week. Come for a quick pint, stay for the afternoon.
